This chapter presents four case studies of design projects from design schools in Australia, Indonesia, China, and USA that examine how transdisciplinary practice can influence new outcomes for economic, social, and cultural issues globally, yet in local contexts. While each example is different, what this study shows is that there is an underlying desire by both the students and the institutions in question, to pursue transdisciplinary modes of design education. Despite the diverse approaches by these four institutions, the students across the board have expressed that their new transdisciplinary learning experiences have been more rewarding and more meaningful. By highlighting these success stories, this study hopes to inspire curricular changes that can set the tone for a new kind of transdisciplinary design education across the globe.
