This visual essay approaches themes of heritage and memory in museum education through participatory art-based activities. The main focus is on a dialogue between past and present embedded in the history of Korundi House of Culture, which is located in Rovaniemi, Finnish Lapland. The paper explores the potential of artbased participatory experiences to facilitate crosscultural and cross-generational encounters, and enhance personal awareness and sensitivity to the place, space and time that are multi-layered. During the pilot workshop the participants reflected their experiences and created visual narratives by using various art techniques. The workshop aimed to strengthen a multisensory experience and open up new perspectives of sensing the place by bringing an emotional narrative alive.
