The article is about contemporary art education and the possibilities of moving away from hierarchical structures and towards actualization/renegotiation. The authors propose museums as contact zones, as places for intergenerational knowledge-transmission about and with things/materials. Museums become places of participation, of cultural mediation. Education should have postcolonial character and distinguish between own and foreign culture, access to and knowledge about the world should be central. The strong focus on the inclusion of marginalized groups, milieus far removed from the arts, is seen critically. The desire to reach all people leads to content being adapted to the respective target groups, formats, and media: to art education being offered without content, as a mere occasion for associations or expressions of emotion. In conclusion, they suggest that instead of historical disguises, it is a matter of finding ways to discover the unknown for oneself - to acknowledge the diversity of paradigms in art.
