‘Rendering Visible’ offers some reflections on Bodies in Flight's show ‘Model Love’, considering the ways in which the performance investigated photography, memory, love and dating, and rendering oneself as image. The essay begins with reflections on rendering as both a visual practice and form of knowing. It goes on to consider the partiality of the photograph and the rendering of the self as image. It ends by situating ‘Model Love’ in relation to the work of Samuel Beckett and Martin Heidegger, particularly in considering the mouth, the eye, and technology. The essay is punctuated with more personal reflections on moments from the show, elicited from documentation of the performance by the author.
