Engaging an Elder and Tracing the Past: Ken Gonzales-Day in Dialogue with Steve Pratt

In this chapter I discuss the experience of working with Dr. Steven Pratt, an Osage elder and spiritual leader, whom I first worked with, as a result of photographing a bust of his great grandfather that was held in the National Museum of Natural History of the Smithsonian Institutions. I later photographed Dr. Pratt as a part of my Pandemic Portrait series.
