Abstract

Abstract

Understanding the interaction of maker and what is made is important for craft research. The position taken in this article is that the making of string figures (sometimes known as cat’s cradles) provides a useful model of, and for, the interaction between maker and what is made. String figures are both artefacts and representations, and making them is a process of embodiment and enacted knowledge.
