Abstract

This visual essay questions what it is to know a place. Through the methods of walking, observing the senses and drawing, this visual essay considers the space between the known and unknown. Situated within a walk through a wet-heath habitat in Australia, I unpack the meaning of knowing place and the senses experienced. During the walk, a mental image of the place is formed, then sketched upon completion. This sketch highlights what elements are known and unknown during the interaction.
