Abstract

This visual essay is about promoting digital transformation in universities while preserving what makes arts education unique: experiential learning and interpersonal connections, amidst the transition to distance learning (DL). The arts-in-a-box methodology was used to address experiential issues in training offered during the Critical ARts Education for Sustainable Societies (CARE/SS) European-funded project (2022–24) (https://care-ss.frederick.ac.cy/). In total, twelve courses were offered on arts education or one of the arts. This article exemplifies one course on art education offered by Frederick University, Cyprus. Students reflected on the benefits of this methodology in making artistic learning accessible, engaging and inclusive while promoting a sense of learning together.
