Soldados de Salamina: ‘Terapias’ para después de una guerra

The unconscious is according to Jung full of images and archetypes. They conform what the psychologist called the ‘collective unconscious’, which transcends the personal and expands interculturally through time and space. This is the perspective used in the present study of Soldados de Salamina (2001), by the Spanish writer Javier Cercas. The novel returns thus to the mystery of the unconscious, to offer us the vital, spiritual and psychological voyage of a man into the past of his country, the Spanish Civil war. Along the narrative we discover the purpose of his trip: that of understanding and healing the psychological and spiritual wounds of a war.
