Abstract

On 25 June 2013 the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama announced the Climate Action Plan, a package of measures intended to slow the effects of climate change. If the political consequences of this speech are yet unknown, the media response to Obama’s announcement serves as a good example of how media covers news related to climate change. This article approaches the immediate response that the most important media in the United States had to Obama’s announcement and how climate change is a complex issue that needs to be responsibly addressed by the scientific community, politicians and journalists.
