Abstract

Ecology is approached as a way of understanding the interplay of inner and environmental forces that generate artistic expressions within a natural world that includes humans and their creations. The ecological viewpoint and its emphasis on reciprocal relations with all things emerged from easel painting experiences with young children who innately integrated movement, enactment, sound and imaginative stories and has been affirmed with adults in studio groups responding to their various media interests and choices. To further authentic expression and its healing energy, art is envisioned as a force of nature as accessible as breath.
