Abstract

This study employs a visual analysis to investigate in which ways the American insurrection’s highly reproduced images compare to the Brazilian 8 January attack through the lens of visual framing. The study analyses both attacks’ visual frames of agency photographic material ( = 412). A few differences were found among agencies, but the significantly high number of occurrences of ‘Confrontation’ across agencies and countries aligns with the literature on the overwhelming presence of conflict in news frames.
