This essay is a case study of the Rigolet Inuktut Living Archives, an on-going project that is attempting to create a space for the disappearing Inuktut dialect of Inuktitut specific to Rigolet, Nunatsiavut, Labrador. In spite of a strong local imperative to safeguard the dialect, the project has proven difficult to implement. These issues are by no means local. They are part of a complex archives ecology within Nunatsiavut, the devolved territory of the Labrador Inuit.
