Abstract

British artist Emma Talbot’s exhibition features an imagined elderly woman as its protagonist, situated in a not-so-distant future as she undertakes a journey to grapple with complex questions in the face of the late stages of capitalism and a worsening climate crisis. The protagonist confronts the stereotype of the hag while she rummages through the roots of Western narratives of power underpinning the interconnected crises of the present. Through mixed media, she applies the tenets of permaculture as her framework for future worldbuilding.
