Abstract

This article examines how theatrical productions that blur the line between play and musical can be classified. In particular, the article explores the recent revival of Tom Stoppard and Andr Previn's play for actors and orchestra, , at London's National Theatre in winter 2009, and whether such a production, typically classified as a play, might be more accurately termed a musical.
