Abstract

An interview with Barrie Mitchell, primarily an illustrator for IPC/Fleetway and DC Thomson comics in the United Kingdom. Barrie has worked in the comic industry for over 50 years and is best known for drawing several football stories, including , which celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2024. In the late 1950s, Barrie undertook an apprenticeship at the London-based Link Studios, working alongside fellow artist John Burns. In the interview, Barrie discusses his approach to his artwork, figures in the industry with whom he worked, and his experiences working in the British comic book industry.
