Teater Inter AKT is an independent theatre company founded in 2005 and based in Malmö, Sweden. The focus of the company’s is to create performance work that addresses issues of justice and equality and is committed to providing a platform for those in society whose voices are rarely heard. This article documents a project entitled ‘To be Where You Are – Presence, Trust and Empathy in Geriatric Care’. The project was commissioned by Annica Forsgren, Coordinator of Research and Development Welfare of Local Authorities in Skåne on KFSK, and drew on the personal experiences of Nina Norèn, actor and director with Teater Inter AKT, who had cared for her elderly mother who had dementia.
