Abstract

In many ways, the Royal College of Art M.A. in Computer Related Design (later Design Interactions) formed the framework for what we now commonly understand to be interaction design and, more recently, user experience. Gillian Crampton Smith led the course from 1990 to 2000. The following insights are from a recent interview with Gillian where she talked about what interaction design means to her, and her experiences as a pioneer in the field.
